EXCITING EXPERIENCES
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
A key highlight of the summer school is its dynamic and varied programme of activities and excursions, designed to keep students engaged, active, and entertained throughout their stay.
Activities
You will experience a tailored and varied weekly programme of sporting, cultural, and social activities (all included in the course price) with something for everyone.
Highlights may include a student-led Welcome Event, Scottish dancing, British sports in University Parks, ten-pin bowling, karaoke, Choral Evensong at an Oxford college, punting, a formal dinner in an Oxford University college. In addition, for those on our immersion programme, our CAS activities offer options such as Coding Club, volleyball, running club, gym-based boxing, football training, yoga, vocal group, basketball, wellbeing walks, tabletop gaming, and magazine content creation.
Study Visits
Study visits and weekend excursions are thoughtfully tailored to each group’s interests and the focus of their chosen programme. These enriching experiences provide opportunities to explore British culture, history, and natural beauty both in Oxford and beyond.
In Oxford, study visits may include guided tours of the city, the Ashmolean Museum, University college Tour, the Bodleian Library and Divinity School, the Natural History and Pitt Rivers Museums, the History of Science Museum, the Botanic Garden, Magdalen College, and the University Church of St Mary with its viewing tower. Students may also enjoy literary trails, art galleries such as Modern Art Oxford and The North Wall gallery, as well as unique experiences like the Vox Pop Oxford project and riverside nature walks through Port Meadow.
Excursions
Weekend excursions take students further afield to destinations such as London - with visits including walking tours, the British Museum, the London Eye, Covent Garden, Oxford Street, Westfield Shopping Centre, Borough Market, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, football stadium tours, and world-class art galleries like Tate Modern and The National Gallery.
Other highlights include Stratford-upon-Avon with Shakespeare’s Birthplace Museum, Royal Windsor and Windsor Castle, the picturesque Cotswolds villages, Blenheim Palace, the historic city of Bath with the Roman Baths, Stonehenge, and the magical Warner Bros. Studios – The Making of Harry Potter.
