DELTA is made up of three flexible modules that can be taken together or separately.

Module 1Background to Teaching and Learning
Module 2Developing Professional Practice
Module 3Extended Assignment on a Specialist Option

Teaching practice for Module 2 can take place in your own school or online, supported by our expert trainers.


For Modules 1 and 2

To successfully complete Modules 1 and 2, candidates are required to:

  • Attend the full course and complete the final written examination
  • Participate in a mid-course 1:1 tutorial for personalised feedback and progress review
  • Teach a minimum of 6 hours of English classes, ideally at different learner levels — some lessons will be formally observed with feedback
  • Complete 10 hours of classroom observations of experienced teachers in live lessons
  • Submit a portfolio of coursework (including teaching assignments) by the deadline, meeting all assessment criteria
Module 1: Background to Teaching and Learning

Assessment: A 3-hour written examination

Format: Externally set and marked by Cambridge

Timing: Conducted twice a year, face-to-face

Module 2: Developing Professional Practice

Assessment: A portfolio of coursework designed to meet Cambridge standards

Includes: 5 assessed teaching assignments (face-to-face or online)

Marking: Internally assessed and externally assessed and moderated

Module 3: Extending Practice and English Language Teaching Specialism

Assessment: An extended written assignment focused on a specialist area of your choice

Marking: Externally assessed by Cambridge
