Shortlisting and Interviews

Applications are reviewed against the role criteria and shortlisted candidates are invited to interview. We may interview before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged.

Interviews are competency-based and may include a practical task. Teaching applicants will be asked to deliver a short lesson. All interviews are conducted by trained panel members and follow safer recruitment practices. Any gaps in education or employment history will be explored in interview and candidates will be asked about their suitability to work with children.

Safeguarding and Pre-Employment Checks

St Clare’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check, and other pre-employment checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Any offer to a successful candidate will be conditional upon:

  • Receipt of at least two satisfactory references
  • Photographic identification using current driving license or a passport
  • Proof of entitlement to work and reside in the UK
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS check and a check of the Barred List maintained by the DBS (if appropriate)
  • Additional vetting checks may also be required for teaching and certain management roles
  • Evidence of professional qualifications
  • Overseas checks (usually in the form of police records/certificate of good conduct) for candidates who have worked or been a resident overseas in the last 10 years.  
Induction
New colleagues receive a full induction tailored to their role to ensure a smooth start and strong introduction to college life.
