CONNECTING CULTURES

A History of Internationalism

Since the mid-1950s, St Clare’s has welcomed students from across Europe and beyond.

St Clare’s has welcomed students from across Europe and beyond since 1953. What began with learners from over 12 Western European countries soon grew, through our strong reputation and word-of-mouth, into a truly global community.

Today, as you walk through the college, you will hear languages from all over the world being spoken. Every year, we welcome students from over 50 different countries to study with us, this global diversity creates a welcoming and supportive community for everyone.

"There is an international community, and I really appreciate that because you can find people from all over the world and you can create links with them.”

Internationalism is a core part of our values, reflected in our diverse student body and programmes. Here, you will find an inclusive culture of mutual respect, intercultural dialogue and open-mindedness that fosters globally minded, aspirational individuals.

Global awareness is an integral part of a St Clare’s education. We encourage students to value and respect differences, as we believe that learning is enhanced by a breadth of views and ideas. Our international outlook broadens your perspective and prepares you for further study and beyond in our globally connected world.

St Clare’s has grown and evolved since 1953, but our mission to advance international education and understanding remains at the core of all that we do.
