Are You Interested in Hosting International Students?
St Clare’s, Oxford is an educational charity founded in 1953 with the mission to advance international education and understanding. We are committed to providing our students with an excellent educational and cultural experience during their time with us.
Our homestay providers are at the heart of this mission. They offer a safe, supportive and welcoming home for international students, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and helping our students to feel part of the Oxford community.
Our hosts tell us that welcoming international students into their homes is a rewarding experience. It offers a chance to build friendships across cultures, share everyday life, and support young people as they discover Oxford.

What We Look for in a Homestay Provider
We’re looking for people who are excited to open their homes to students from different countries, offering not only a comfortable place to stay but also kindness, support, and genuine interest in their wellbeing. St Clare’s hosts should also provide:
- A single room with shared or private bathroom
- Breakfast and dinner with hosts every day
- A location within walking distance or a short bus ride of our campuses (OX2 7AL or OX2 6SU)
As part of our safeguarding commitment, the College will carry out Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for all household members aged 16 and over. These checks are fully arranged and funded by the College. We also provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to hosts to help ensure the highest standards of student welfare.
